All of the children joined in with our harvest celebration at Spooner Row Church this morning. We were amazed at the generosity of all the parents and children bringing donations for the food bank.
Each class had prepared an item to share. Badger Class started off proceedings with a n entertaining ‘How to celebrate Harvest’ instructional writing presentation. All of the children then sang ‘Harvest Song’ beautifully. Jan Tully spoke to us all about food that is wasted and encouraged us to not waste food. We then sang ‘In The Bin’ which is a song about how much food is thrown away each year in the UK and a topic we have covered in our British Values sessions during Circle Group time.
Fox Class recited Harvest Prayer clearly and we sang another of our favourites ‘The Bean Song’ which included lots of actions. Well done to Squirrel Class for joining in so well.
Finally, Oak Class told us all about how food is distributed unfairly across the continents which made us all think how lucky we are to have enough food to eat.
Lastly, we sang ‘Down to the Allotment’.
All of the generously donated food was collected by Mary Goldsmith from the food bank and she asked that we thank the children and parents for their donations.
