This week in Forest School the children arrived in pairs with one leading by making repeated sounds for their “blind” partner to follow.
In circle time at the start of the session we discussed how bats use echo location and the importance of listening very carefully.
We then played the game Creeping Comanche where a blindfolded child has to listen carefully and point out any “Comanches” that they hear creeping towards them.
In child let activities the children chose to use the craft area, work with tools, work with ropes. Two groups also chose to erect tents again as they had enjoyed the challenge previously. One group decided to set up a hair braiding and beauty salon business that was very successful.
In circle time at the end of the session we discussed the importance of persevering with difficult tasks.
It is now essential that children have warm layers, waterproof coats and wellies at every session.
