Today was the day that we re-enacted The Battle of Hastings. We all came dressed as knights ready to do battle with the enemy. We split into Anglo-Saxons and Normans and marched onto the battlefield. The Saxons arrived first and took up position on the hill. They made a very strong shield wall. When the Normans arrived from France they were determined to win and brought with them archers and horses. When William (Pepe) gave the order to charge we had great fun shouting and running up the hill. The fight that followed was ferocious and only ended when some Normans pretended to retreat and were followed by a group of Saxons. This caused the shield wall to collapse and allowed an arrow to make it’s way through and hit Harold (William) in the eye. After the battle, we had fun playing with our swords and shields.
